Provide a student placement

At Sheffield University Management School, we actively encourage our students across all years to enhance their employability potential, by gaining employment experience before they graduate. A student placement is when a student takes employment in a job role (usually paid) during their study time at Sheffield.

Alumni often help provide opportunities for student placements, whether it's through their contacts at their organisation or helping to create an opening within their own organisation.

A student placement is when a student takes employment in a job role (usually paid) during their study time at Sheffield. This can be during the summer in between their study years at undergraduate level, a year-long placement in industry in between study years at undergraduate level, immediately after their degree at postgraduate level, or working hours can be spread over a period of a few months during the student's programme.

Employing a Management School student through a placement can provide your organisation with many benefits including:

  • The opportunity for you to gain fresh ideas and enthusiasm from a motivated individual
  • A chance to access up to date management theory, skills, and knowledge
  • A cost effective recruitment solution
  • A means to assess current students for possible employment as graduates
  • A route into a leading UK research-led institution
