About the role:

This graduate position provides you with a unique opportunity to work for two teams: Reinsurance Strategy and Business Development.

The main focus of Reinsurance Strategy is to lead and coordinate key projects for the Reinsurance Business Unit, to prepare and evaluate competitor and market intelligence and to support the CEO Reinsurance and the Reinsurance Management Team.

The Business Development department is a key driver in the origination of transactional reinsurance solutions which help clients optimise their capital position or reduce risk and volatility in their insurance book. The main activities of the department is identifying transactional opportunities within markets and companies. We are constantly developing new reinsurance value propositions with which to engage with clients.

As a Reinsurance Strategy and Business Development Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • To initiate, develop and support projects that contribute to the Reinsurance business unit’s strategic priorities, covering both Property & Casualty and Life & Health themes on a global basis.
  • You will assist with competitor analysis and monitoring of market trends and business activities. Take responsibility for research on named competitors; assist with research on other competitors. Includes liaising with Group Strategy and SR Institute teams.
  • Prepare presentations and ad-hoc analysis for senior Reinsurance leaders, management meetings and external communication (e.g. Rating Agency meetings and Investor Days).
  • Build an understanding of key issues facing our Business Unit and identify how Reinsurance should respond
  • You will analyse, evaluate and screen transaction opportunities arising from the changing regulatory, financial and risk environment
  • Apply and develop high quality analytics and modelling, to better understand specific client priorities
  • You will develop and tailor new value propositions for our clients to effectively meet their needs and priorities
  • To support creation of client pitches with a focus on how reinsurance solutions create financial and strategic value for clients
  • Contribute to strategy planning and marketing activities for key client accounts

Requirements:

  • Successfully completed a university degree, preferably in Finance, Business, Economics, Actuarial Science, or similar quantitative focus or equivalent
  • Strong interest to learn about insurance/reinsurance
  • Strong commercial sense and are able to put yourself into our client's position
  • You are innovative and demonstrate a high ability to use your own initiative and work independently, while able to adapt to a changing and dynamic environment
  • You are mature and feel confident engaging with clients, senior stakeholders and strategic partners where you express yourself effectively in both one-on-one conversations and small groups
  • Ability and enthusiasm to work in a global and multicultural environment
  • Approaches problems with curiosity and flexibility, is a fast learner
  • You are a team-player and show a high willingness to contribute actively to the overall team spirit
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; additional European language skills preferred
  • Very good analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
