Project Management Graduate Development Programme at Rolls-Royce plc

Where: UK

Deadline: January 5, 2018

Type: Graduate

About the Company:

With a significant order book and billions of pounds poured into research and development, we don't think you'll find a more exciting range of projects to tackle. The diversity, breadth and scale of our projects are huge, which makes our Project Management Graduate Development Programme a fantastic opportunity to experience many different aspects of our business. Whether we're developing gas turbines, creating manufacturing facilities or building power stations, sound project management ensures we meet our customers' high expectations - as well as our own.

Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it's all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea ? to customers in 150 nations around the world.

About the Role:

On this two-year programme, you'll undertake four six-month placements that will see you working across the full project lifecycle and testing yourself on an exceptionally broad range of projects. You'll also gain experience across a variety of industry sectors in all of our different businesses - Nuclear, Marine, Civil and Defence Aerospace. Potentially, you could work in different global regions, in line with your tailored development plan. From day one, you'll develop in the way you want while enjoying the support and guidance of graduate development consultants and career coaches. You can expect classroom training courses balanced with practical learning on real projects. And towards the end of the programme, you'll work towards your first professional project management qualification from the Association of Project Managers (APM).

You'll be involved with everything from scoping, planning and scheduling to resource, cost and risk management, from inception right through to the finished product. So you could be maintaining schedules and supplying data to senior members of the team on a large engine project, or working closely with suppliers to reduce our exposure to risk. Wherever your placements take you, you'll develop a robust understanding of project management principles and methodologies, including the ability to build financially sound business cases. Add to that technical knowledge like estimating, earned value management and requirements management, and you'll be well equipped to take on your first role as a fully-fledged member of a Project Management team.

Requirements:

We're looking for graduates who can demonstrate an understanding of Rolls-Royce, our goals and the context in which we operate. You'll also need to bring strategic abilities, great people skills and strong attention to detail. Not only that, but you'll already have experience in some sort of leadership role - at school, in a club or at university. In terms of academic qualifications, you'll need to have, or be on track to receive, a 2:1 degree (or equivalent).
