About the Organisation:

OnTarget wishes to implement early intervention strategies in crime prevention by working with underrepresented young people in Sheffield. Improving both mental wellbeing and employability prospects is the driving force behind the project, bringing together social sport and positive role models.

About the Opportunity:

We’re looking for volunteers to help develop a comprehensive 9 week programme designed for teenagers (aged 14-16). Each of the weekly programmes will need to last for one hour. The role of any interested volunteer will be to bring new ideas to the OnTarget team. These ideas should be educational and engaging. They will then be discussed at meetings, developed in collaboration with youth justice workers and other professionals and perfected before being implemented in schools.

Time Commitment:

Flexible

Once the 9 week programme is created, there are further optional opportunities to help implement the programme on an hourly, weekly basis in schools across Sheffield.

What will I gain?

You will become an integral part of a new social enterprise. There is the opportunity to take the role one step further and be really innovative with the development of the project. Furthermore, an opportunity to work with a diverse range of people as well as the OnTarget, student led team.

Requirements:

• Experience working with teenagers is preferable but not a necessity.
• An understanding of educational development and/or the needs of vulnerable groups would also be preferred but not a necessity.
• The primary skill for this role is the ability to be innovative in order to create an engaging programme. The volunteer must also be able to work well as part of a team.
