About the Role:

Student-facing communications audit and enhancement for the Department for Lifelong Learning (DLL)

We wish to improve the way we communicate with students by ensuring that all our print and online materials are:

• as accessible as possible to the widest audience
• delivered through the most effective modes and channels
• written in plain English
• appropriately pitched so that applicants and students feel welcomed, included and well-supported.

We are seeking a student perspective on our communications, as well as a systematic audit of our current materials. The focus of the placement will be to audit the existing student-facing communications in the department (pre-entry and on course information in all formats) and make recommendations for improvements and additions.

Requirements:

• Excellent written communication
• Attention to detail and proofreading skills
• Ability to empathise with the needs and preferences of a wide and diverse range of ‘non-traditional’ students
• Organisation, time management and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to plan and prioritise tasks methodically
• Good administrative skills and a high degree of accuracy
• Good numeracy and analytical skills
• Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly with a range of staff and students at all levels
• Confidence in using IT and designing systems to capture and analyse information
