How to apply:
CGI’s assessment process really is designed to get the best out of you. All applications are made via our website and we would encourage you to always check what is currently live via the Apply Now button. We would also encourage you to research our different business units and locations to see what suits you best.
Our application form asks you to fill in some short questions and we will also ask you to upload a CV. If your application meets what we are looking for then we will call you for a short telephone screening where we will discuss your business unit and location preferences in relation to the roles that are available. If that matches then we will invite you to an assessment centre in one of our central hubs which may be different to your base location preference, typically Birmingham, Glasgow, Leatherhead and Reading. Just because your assessment centre is in these locations it doesn’t mean that you will be working there when you join! The assessment centre comprises different exercises, normally a group exercise, written exercise and interview with someone from your preferred business unit. Sometimes you may have your interview or have a second interview on a separate day.
That really is it and from there we hope to be making you an offer within about approximately a week from your assessment centre.
What do we look for?
We ask that you are able to show a clear drive to start a successful career within the IT sector and a clear passion for working for CGI. The majority of our students/graduate will have studied computer science or IT/STEM based subjects that required them to use programming. Whilst most of our roles involve an element of development, programming, testing or analytics we also look for students/graduates to join our business roles if they are passionate about technology. As well as technical ability, equally important is your ability to listen and communicate. The success of our business depends on our ability to engage with our clients and get under the skin of their organisations. As well as an inquisitive mind, you’ll therefore need to be a strong relationship builder. You’ll need to be flexible, open to sharing ideas and truly collaborative in your approach.
We also ask that you’re working towards a minimum of a 2:2/2:1* degree or above in a relevant IT/STEM subject (we will consider other related degrees if you able to demonstrate clear experience with programs such as open source and/or programming languages including java, C++, C#) for our Technical roles. If you are joining in a Business role we will ask that you’re working towards a minimum of a 2:2/2:1* degree or above in any subject (with a preference for IT/STEM subjects) and that you have a genuine interest and passion for technology. You will also need least 240 UCAS points, or equivalent, gained in one academic year excluding General Studies.
*The degree grade needed varies between the different business units
