Alternative Distribution is an exciting new venture for Hiscox with aggressive growth plans. Specialising in key areas such as MGA, Private Client, Global Flying and Classic Cars. About the Role:

Working with and learning from experienced underwriters and account managers, you will develop broad skills that will enable you to contribute to the growth of the team. The ambitions of the teams are to look for alternative and innovative ways to write profitable business whilst maintaining high quality. You will learn how to do this through learning about our business, our business partners and developing an understanding of our clients requirements. You will analyse risk and business data, engage directly with our customers whilst building strong relations with our claims and Customer Experience Centre teams.

Our two year graduate programme is challenging and varied. With a range of roles in a variety of locations, the programme is designed to enable you to learn about the business whilst discovering and developing the skills and knowledge that will help you build the foundations for a successful and rewarding career.

We will support and encourage you to complete the Chartered Institute of Insurance’s professional qualification (ACII), you will take part in workshops to develop your technical and business skills and you will collaborate with others on meaningful business projects. We offer participants on our graduate programme the opportunity to view the company from a range of different perspectives by undertaking two six-week domestic secondments and a twelve-week international secondment to one of our offices in Europe, Singapore, the USA or Bermuda. The purpose of the secondments are to broaden and deepen your skills and knowledge whilst contributing to the success of the business.

Requirements:

Applicants to the graduate programme are expected to:

  • Be available to join the programme in September 2018
  • Speak and write in fluent business English
  • Have the right to work in a permanent position in the UK.
  • Have achieved, or be on track to achieve a 2.2 or above (or equivalent) in your degree
  • Have grades B or above in GCSE English and Maths and 300 UCAS points from your top 3 A-levels (not including General Studies), or equivalent
  • Possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with strong written and verbal skills to build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Be an ambitious team player with high work rate and the drive, determination and self-motivation to achieve results whilst continuously learning and developing a deep understanding of the business
  • A critical thinker, you will be proactive, logical and analytical – someone who challenges the status quo
  • Demonstrate an ability to gather and analyse data to identify areas of change or improvement that can bring about the greatest benefit to the business. You will be able to explain your findings and proposals clearly and succinctly
  • Be computer literate, with an advanced understanding of Excel and an interest in systems
  • Be able to work efficiently under pressure, both on your own and as part of a team, delivering accurate results to strict deadlines
