Set up in 1986 by two Nottingham University graduates, we design and manufacture ‘thermal cutting’ machines and develop in-house software solutions targeted at the metal cutting industry.

Innovation is at the core of Esprit. Among our recent developments we have an Industry 4.0 remote monitoring & diagnostic system and just this year we’ve launched our range of fiber laser cutting machines with incredible 5 g acceleration, 325 m/min speed and 50 micron positioning capabilities.

About the role

This is a superb opportunity for a talented graduate with the drive to roll up their sleeves and learn about a manufacturing business, eventually leading to a leadership career in supply chain management.

  • You will take responsibility for all purchasing functions in our company.
  • Every machine we sell, you will project manage from a purchasing point of view: you will ensure that you understand which parts are the bottleneck and will proactively communicate internally and externally to ensure any bottlenecks are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • You’ll need to have an interest in engineering / manufacturing as you’ll be liaising with engineering suppliers, ensuring that we pay the best possible price e.g. for machine components and achieve on-time delivery.
  • You will have the responsibility to balance the needs of the business with respect to on-time components availability while driving stock levels down.
  • You will support “Make or Buy” decisions, balancing capabilities of our production team vs the next best alternative.
  • You’ll help develop existing and select new suppliers as you investigate ways to reduce cost. You will be our cost focussed negotiator with excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • You’ll be working with a computerised MRP/Accounts system to place orders and manage stock levels and supplier information. You’ll have strong analytical skills and excellent IT & MS Office capabilities (Excel/Word/Powerpoint).
