About the Role:

Three placements are open to everyone regardless of age, gender identity, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, religion or belief, race, sexual orientation, transgender status or social economic background.

The placements are:

1. Developing employer engagement to address in work poverty. Working in the Policy & Partnerships team you will support JRF’s outcome around more people finding a route out of poverty through work.

2. Increasing disability awareness ensuring JRHT’s Housing and Community Services are fully accessible by understanding the customer journey and shining a light on where and how we can improve services to disabled customers.

3. Social investment impact assessment. Working with the Finance team to help review social impact measurement methods and assisting in assessment of impact across the JRF portfolio.

The other three placements are offered as part of a positive action initiative to support our strategy to diversify the ethnicity of our workforce as Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) people are significantly under-represented. They are only available to people who identify as having heritage from BAME groups. This initiative is supported by Section 158 of the Equalities Act 2010.

The placements are:

4. Helping to put lived experience at the heart of External Affairs work. This will be helping to identify and build a network of allies in grassroots organisations driven by people with lived experience of poverty to help further our work in this area. (This placement is London based and will attract a London Allowance taking the salary for the 6 month period to £10,690).

5. Exploration of the wider learning of the York Committee’s grant making activity. This will enable JRHT to explore wider learning from this committee and assess its effectiveness in achieving its aims and outcomes.

6. Support the delivery of diversity campaigns engaging with a range of staff and support for accreditation of the Government’s Disability Confident Scheme. Working with the Head of Diversity & Inclusion this placement will make a valuable contribution to achieving our diversity objectives.

Requirements:

To succeed you will be inquisitive, passionate about making a difference, have a creative streak and an inclusive approach. Your communication skills will be excellent as will your ability to work in collaboration with others, and above all an interest in strengthening communities and solving poverty will be taken as read.
