About the role

Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will be central in the day to day smooth running of finance related administration. You will carry out multiple roles in rotation during your placement year to ensure full exposure to the finance function and variety of task. These activities may include sales order entry and invoicing, cash management and collating information to help complete management accounts. You will assist in the preparation and production of export documentation and seek out better ways of doing things, whilst learning from those around you and becoming a central and invaluable member of the team.

Additionally, you may also work alongside the Buying team to be their financial and administrative support. Using our bespoke systems, you will be creating, updating and maintaining product records to provide an accurate representation of the stock we hold. You will get to know the stock inside out – from accurate purchase order entry, stock photography, product analysis and descriptions. You will also be liaising with other departments throughout the organisation to facilitate sample coordination, enquiring into new product arrivals and overseeing quality control, gaining an appreciation that finance is much more than just calculators and number crunching.

Given that our placements are 15 months long, you will be learning the ropes from our current placement students, and then becoming the mentors and passing on your knowledge and experience to the students who then follow on from you in the next placement year.

Requirements

With so much going on, you need to be sharp, smart with an eagerness to learn – we ask that you be studying towards a business related degree with strong A levels (or the associated equivalent). However, we look for more than just academic achievements of our team. Show us that you have entrepreneurial spirit, an interest in trading and enthusiasm for working - we would love to hear more from you.

You will be a confident communicator and work with clarity, with the tenacity to see activity through to completion. You will be an organised and logical thinker, operating at pace and under pressure, whilst not sacrificing quality and accuracy. You will see the importance of attention to detail, yet awareness for the bigger picture and keen to understand how business works in practice.

As we trade internationally, we’re keen to hear from people who have language skills or experience of living and working overseas but these are not essential.
