About the Role:

Are you an ambitious, enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to develop your career within Finance? There has never been a more exciting time to join the Health Service working for one of the country’s largest NHS Foundation Trusts.

This is a split post which works in both the Costing and Development Finance Teams.

Part of the role is working with the costing team. This Team produces the Patient Services and Education & Training Reference costs for the Trust. It is also responsible for patient level costing and service line reporting.

The other element of the role is support to the planning & projects work stream within Development Finance. This works with Strategy & Operations on commercial opportunities; promotion of private patient income, tendering and service development. It also works on the financial aspects of a number of Trust-wide developments.

This post requires excellent communication skills as well as technical competence, particularly in the use of IT systems to process and interpret key information.

The post is ideally suited to candidates seeking to embark on a career in finance with significant opportunities for personal development and progression within a large Financial Management department and full access to a wide range of learning materials and training packages offered both by the Trust and its external partners. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 A Levels at Grade C or above and 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications)

The role is graded at band 4, for which candidates must demonstrate sufficient recent and relevant experience (i.e. working in a Finance Department or completion of a finance-related honours degree) and an ability to work under their own initiative with minimal supervision.

A comprehensive study support package will be provided to enable the post holder to work towards full registration with a recognised CIMA or CCAB accountancy body.

Essential:

  • 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent)

  • 2 A Levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent) or equivalent costing and other accounting experience obtained working in a Finance Department

  • Sufficient relevant experience (working in a Finance department or completion of a Finance related degree)

  • Ability to meet deadlines through effective organisational and planning skills, self motivation and ability to work under own initiative

  • Good written and verbal reasoning communication skills, and interpersonal skills to communicate with external bodies

  • Conscientious and a positive Team Player

  • Flexible and adaptable - able to manage competing and changing workloads

Additional/Useful:

  • A levels in Accountancy, Business Studies, Mathematics at grade C or above (or similar)

  • AAT qualified or CCAB/CIMA Part qualified or equivalent

  • European Computer Driving Licence or similar

  • Honours degree

  • Experience of working in NHS Finance in an Acute Hospital
