About the Role:

In this role as Actuarial Analyst, you may work in a variety of roles within the department. All activities set out below may not apply to every role within Actuarial, however the principles are common. Key role responsibilities:

  • Perform high quality analysis and produce accurate output in line with reporting, pricing, or other requirements that apply.
  • Ensure work is documented to the required audit standard.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to deliver the Actuarial team objectives.
  • Deliver all services to business and customers in a timely manner to meet expectations.
  • Carry out routine processes in line with documented procedures, and ensure documented procedures are kept up to date.
  • Apply actuarial judgement to propose process improvements to reduce cost, whilst improving controls and increasing service.
  • Escalate risks and issues to line management in a timely manner and assist with implementation of solution where appropriate.
  • Ensure the integrity of financial data is maintained.
  • Actively support knowledge management and knowledge sharing within the Actuarial Department.
  • Be prepared to rotate around different business areas every 18-24 months to expand skill set.
  • Commitment to professional study requirements of the role.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and workshops attended.

Requirements:

  • Achieved (or predicted) 2:1 or above in a numerical, scientific or economics based degree
  • Grade B in A level Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Solid mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to think analytically and should be a problem solver.
  • Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to both peers and senior management.
