Inaugural SUMS Annual Doctoral Conference

Sheffield University Management School was delighted to present the first in the series of the SUMS Annual Doctoral Conference, which took place at the School in September 2017.

The first of its kind for the School, the conference saw 50 of its own doctoral students present to an audience of peers and reviewers, enabling students to not only showcase their research but to receive constructive feedback.

Members of our postgraduate research community each presented and defended a conference paper to specialists within their research divisions, which include; Work, Employment, People and Organisations; Marketing, International Enterprise and Strategy; Operations Management and Decision Sciences; and Accounting and Financial Management.

As well celebrating their research, the conference provided the opportunity for our doctoral students to practice invaluable skills for their future careers and employability both within and outside academia.

The one-day conference ended with celebratory prizes being awarded to those who presented outstanding papers, followed by an evening reception. After the success of this year’s, we are already looking forward to the 2018 conference!
