We offer our undergraduate students a chance to undertake a degree with employment experience which includes a placement year in industry in-between their second and final years of study. Placements can commence any time from late June to September for a minimum of 38 weeks although a full 12 months is ideal. Students can also choose to do two six-month placements.

Throughout the placement: There should be someone available to line manage the student for the entirety of the placement, and you will need to consider the job-role of the placement; Is it suitable for an undergraduate? What are their key activities and projects the placement is based on? Do you have adequate insurance and health & safety in place?
Time: Placements can commence any time from late June to September for a minimum of 38 weeks although a full 12 months is ideal. Students can choose to do two 6 month placements.
Cost: Students should be paid a salary during the placement year. Guidance on appropriate salary levels is available from the Placement Team. If your organisation is unable to pay a salary during the year, please contact the Placement Team to discuss alternative solutions.
Important documents: Upon offering the successful student a placement we will require you to issue the student with a contract of employment detailing terms and conditions and a job description. We will also require you to provide adequate Health and Safety information.
